DP WORLD MELBOURNE – FCL DELIVERIES

Please be advised, that due to extreme heat conditions on Monday 11/01/10, DP World ceased operations at 1600 hours and did not re-open for that day.

Our FCL cartage company has reported that, the scheduled MUA picnic day was observed on Tuesday 12/1/10, which meant the terminal did not re-open until 2230 hours on Tuesday 12/1.

Due to these closures, a backlog of import containers accumulated at the terminal and coupled with this, there has been a couple of vessels resulting in an extraordinary number of containers still at DP World.

Again due to these closures, other carriers are attempting to collect their client’s containers for them resulting in a lack of timeslots available to accommodate the total containers our FCL cartage company need to collect on your behalf.

The terminal has been contacted for assistance, however they have replied their resources are stretched and they are unable to accommodate any request.
Result is, our FCL cartage company, will not be able to collect some containers that are booked in for delivery on Thursday 14/1 & Friday 15/1, due DP World’s resources not coping with these outstanding quantities.

Our cartage company will endeavour to pick up your containers before their time up to date to avoid wharf storage charges, however with DP World’s reduced resources this cannot be guaranteed at this point.
