ATTN: Shipping Manager
We have received advice that Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service will not accept certificates for fumigation performed using methyl bromide from any European Union country after the 18th of March.
We have checked with our overseas agents and have been advised that the majority of cargo which we ship from the EU currently is already on plastic or heat treated pallets.
If cargo arrives on wooden packaging which has not been appropriately treated, AQIS will either order fumigation on arrival or destruction of pallets which will be at consignees cost.
Therefore we wanted to alert all clients of this new regulation and the AQIS alternative acceptable treatments which can be found at www.daff.gov.au/aqis/import/icon-icd
We suggest that you advise all of your shipper(s) of the acceptable treatments or to utilise plastic pallets from EU origins.
If you require any further information, please contact your customer service representative.
With Kind Regards,
